Alexander Zverev, currently ranked 3rd in the world, fought back from a difficult start to secure a 3:6, 6:3, 6:3 victory over Cameron Norrie in the second round of the 2026 Cincinnati Masters. The match, interrupted several times by rain, began late at 11:40 PM local time and lasted 2 hours and 35 minutes, with Zverev clinching the win only after converting his first match point at 2:15 AM.

Zverev initially fell behind early in the first set, going down 0:2 and losing it 3:6. However, a notable turning point occurred in the second set when Norrie attempted a psychological tactic by changing shirts mid-play, which backfired. This allowed Zverev to find his rhythm, winning the following two sets 6:3, 6:3.

This win comes at a crucial time as Zverev prepares for the US Open starting August 30, and it is expected to boost him back to the world number 2 ranking, especially with Jannik Sinner sidelined due to a knee injury. His next opponent will be Terence Atmane, ranked 45th globally.
