Alice Mascia to Step Down as DAZN CEO, Marking a Major Shift in German Football Media

Alice Mascia, the influential CEO of DAZN's operations in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (DACH), has announced she will leave her position at the end of 2026. Since taking the helm in May 2022, Mascia has significantly reshaped the football broadcasting landscape in Germany, securing Champions League rights through 2027 and outbidding Sky for the Bundesliga conference rights covering Saturday afternoon matches until the 2028/29 season. Additionally, DAZN obtained Europa League and Conference League rights starting from the 2027/28 season.

Under Mascia's leadership, DAZN turned profitable in the DACH region from mid-2024 onward, overcoming substantial challenges such as losing a Bundesliga package to Sky in a rights auction mishap. Beyond football, DAZN expanded its portfolio to include other major sports rights for LaLiga, Serie A, darts, and UFC.

A pioneering advocate for women's sports, Mascia launched DAZN RISE in 2023, the world's first 24/7 channel exclusively dedicated to women's sports. Her groundbreaking role in a male-dominated industry earned her the distinction of being the most powerful woman in German football, according to SPORT BILD.
