André Breitenreiter Takes Helm as New Head Coach of FC Hansa Rostock

FC Hansa Rostock has appointed André Breitenreiter as its new head coach following the dismissal of Daniel Brinkmann a week earlier. Breitenreiter, 52, brings significant experience from German professional football, having managed Bundesliga clubs including SC Paderborn, Schalke 04, Hannover 96, and TSG Hoffenheim. Notably, he led FC Zürich to a Swiss championship title in 2022 and achieved two Bundesliga promotions, in 2014 with SC Paderborn and in 2017 with Hannover 96.

Breitenreiter succeeds Brinkmann as Rostock seeks to strengthen its position in the 3. Liga, where the team currently sits sixth after seven matches. Under interim coach Yannic Thiel, the club managed a win and a draw, signaling positive momentum ahead of Breitenreiter’s tenure. The new coach will lead the team first in training ahead of their next official match on October 3 in the state cup against SV Gützkow.

Amir Shapourzadeh, Rostock's professional football director, praised Breitenreiter not only for his extensive coaching background but also for the alignment of his football philosophy with the club's vision. Breitenreiter expressed enthusiasm about joining Hansa Rostock, stating, "I feel positive energy here and want to contribute to a successful new chapter together." Breitenreiter’s contract duration has not been disclosed.
