Bayer Leverkusen Dominates Lech Posen with 4:0 Win in Europa League Group Stage

Bayer Leverkusen secured a commanding 4:0 victory against Polish champions Lech Posen in their second Europa League group stage match, marking their eighth consecutive win in this phase of the competition. The match, played on October 15, 2026, highlighted the clinical finishing of Patrik Schick, who scored two penalties and has now scored in all five of Leverkusen’s league matches this season.

Schick came off the bench early after an injury to Martin Terrier, who was making only his second start of the season but faced another setback. Terrier’s injury forced an early substitution. The first penalty came after Lech Posen's Terry Yegbe blocked a shot with his arm, confirmed by VAR, allowing Schick to convert in the 29th minute. Malick Tillman quickly followed with a goal in the 32nd minute, and Schick scored his second penalty in the 41st minute after being fouled by Mateusz Skrzypczak.

In the second half, although Leverkusen controlled the game with fewer major chances, Ibrahim Maza ensured a comprehensive victory by scoring in the 89th minute. Leverkusen's coach Carles Martinez rotated the squad significantly from their previous Bundesliga fixture, providing opportunities to players like Loic Badé, Ezequiel Fernandez, and Nathan Tella.

This win gave Leverkusen a perfect start in the Europa League with six points and a 6:0 goal difference overall. The victory boosts confidence ahead of their Bundesliga match against league leaders SC Freiburg scheduled for Sunday. Leverkusen has shown resilience and strong form in Europe, signaling their ambitions both domestically and continentally.
