Brandenburg Training Award 2026 Highlights Regional Commitment to Quality Vocational Education

The Brandenburg Training Award 2026 has opened its application phase, inviting regional companies to showcase their excellence in vocational training. Kurt Fischer, SPD member of the Brandenburg parliament, emphasized the critical importance of quality training amid persistent skilled labor shortages. Since its inception 22 years ago, the award recognizes 11 companies annually for their outstanding training quality, innovative practices, and social commitment. Applications are accepted until June 30, 2026, with the award ceremony set for November 11 in Potsdam.

Organized by the Brandenburg Training Consensus—a coalition including businesses, chambers, unions, the Federal Employment Agency, and the state government—the award reflects a broad-based commitment to workforce development. Fischer highlighted companies in Eberswalde, Joachimsthal, and Schorfheide as key contributors to regional training excellence.

Complementing the award, the Finance Ministry recently introduced a draft regulation focused on enhancing collaborations between businesses and vocational schools. This initiative outlines financial incentives, such as reimbursement of up to 70% of tuition fees for training disadvantaged individuals, tax reductions, and exemptions on expenses related to joint training and research activities. Companies establishing operational personnel development funds can finance continuous employee training, supporting skill advancement aligned with evolving business demands.

Together, these measures underscore Brandenburg's commitment to nurturing a skilled workforce through quality vocational education, innovation, and strong public-private partnerships. They aim to address workforce challenges while fostering green and digital transformation in vocational training.
