The ban was introduced overnight on Saturday in the northern part of Süßen due to free chlorine concentrations reaching up to 1.8 milligrams per liter, caused by a disturbance at the local waterworks. Following intensive flushing of the water network and subsequent tests on Saturday morning, chlorine levels returned to normal, restoring drinking water quality and lifting the restrictions.

Simultaneously, parts of Bad Krozingen are experiencing bacterial contamination in their drinking water, prompting authorities to issue a boil-water advisory for residents. This means that while Süßen’s water quality concerns have been addressed successfully, residents in Bad Krozingen must boil tap water before use to avoid health risks.
