German National Team Unveils Adidas Farewell Jersey in Jürgen Klopp's Coaching Debut

In a striking start to his tenure, Jürgen Klopp debuted his German national team coaching journey with a notable change: the team wore the Adidas farewell jersey against the Netherlands during the Nations League match in Amsterdam. Originally, the team was set to don a green retro kit reminiscent of the 1990 World Cup for this game, but UEFA approved the early introduction of the new black jersey featuring golden stripes.

The jersey’s golden stripes are crafted from small diamonds, symbolizing the more than 24,000 football clubs across Germany, which the German Football Association (DFB) identifies as the backbone of German football. Team captain Joshua Kimmich led the side in this striking shirt, which Jürgen Klopp described as “beautiful” and expressed pleasure in the players wearing it.

This match marks not only the beginning of Klopp's coaching era but also the final chapter of Germany's sponsorship with Adidas, as the partnership ends this year. Nike will take over as the team's outfitter starting in 2027.

Following this game, Germany plans to wear their white home jerseys in upcoming matches against Greece and Serbia. Adidas also released a promotional clip featuring legendary players discussing the best jerseys in DFB history. The formal presentation of the farewell jersey is scheduled for November 3, with fans expected to soon purchase it at an estimated price around 100 euros, somewhat higher than Klopp’s suggested 70 to 80 euros.
