Germany Asserts Leadership in European Security Amid Rising Geopolitical Tensions

Germany is taking a prominent role in shaping European geopolitical and security dynamics, underscored by key military appointments and high-profile diplomatic engagements. Chancellor Friedrich Merz is attending an informal EU summit in Antwerp and the Munich Security Conference to project Germany's strength internationally amid a backdrop of transatlantic tensions and economic uncertainties linked to China. Alexandra de Hoop Scheffer, President of the German Marshall Fund, highlighted that global powers from Washington to Delhi hold high expectations for Germany's emerging leadership in geopolitical crises.
