Germany Signals Readiness for Military Defensive Actions Amid Middle East Conflict

Germany, alongside France and the United Kingdom, has issued a firm warning to Iran to cease its rocket attacks in the Middle East, emphasizing their preparedness to undertake military defensive measures to protect their soldiers and interests in the region. In a joint declaration from Berlin, Chancellor Friedrich Merz, President Emmanuel Macron, and Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the attacks as "indiscriminate and disproportionate," underscoring their right to respond appropriately if their forces are threatened.

The statement highlighted that these measures could include neutralizing Iran’s capability to launch rockets and drones at their source. British Prime Minister Starmer confirmed that the UK is engaged in coordinated defensive operations, successfully thwarting Iranian strikes, though the UK is not conducting offensive airstrikes against Iran directly, instead permitting the U.S. to use British bases for strikes targeting Iranian missile facilities.

Recent escalations have involved attacks on military sites in Iraq and Jordan, including locations housing German soldiers.
