Germany is intensifying its defense capabilities and international collaborations in response to increased foreign surveillance and evolving security needs. The German government has confirmed a surge in Russian reconnaissance satellite activity over its territory, signaling heightened espionage threats from space. At the recent "Mind The Tech" conference in Berlin, Israeli defense expert Generalmajor Amikam Norkin, former head of the Israeli Air Force, emphasized the potential of combining Israel's agile defense start-ups with Germany's industrial expertise to accelerate Germany's defense modernization. A notable milestone in their partnership is the recent activation of the Arrow 3 missile defense system on German soil, a joint Israeli-American project capable of intercepting ballistic missiles at altitudes up to 100 kilometers, significantly enhancing Germany's air defense.

Israeli Ambassador Ron Prosor described Germany as Israel's most important trading partner, underlining the promising prospects for partnerships with Germany's specialized industrial firms. Norkin advised German start-ups in defense technologies to focus initially on single markets like the Bundeswehr to build credibility before expanding internationally, especially within NATO. He also highlighted the pressing need for Germany to develop advanced radar and satellite technologies to strengthen its air defense further.
