Approximately 500 individuals labeled as "violent troublemakers" regularly attend matches in these cities each weekend, yet a Cologne police spokesperson reassured that the risk level remains no greater than in previous derbies and no specific violent threats have emerged. The increased police deployment is largely due to two demonstrations planned in Cologne’s city center, not an anticipated surge in derby violence.

Despite this, the environment is considered more volatile than in past matches, reflecting growing friction particularly between ultras and police. Ultras have recently staged protests citing unfair police tactics, including silent boycotts, while police describe encounters with groups trying to force stadium entry without tickets. This adversarial relationship complicates security efforts and fan interactions.

Political figures are also expressing concern. Saxony's Interior Minister Armin Schuster pointed to mounting pressure from fan behavior and perceived inaction by football authorities.
