Homeless Man in Stuttgart Donates €200 to Support Single Mothers at Christmas

A homeless man in Stuttgart, known by the nickname 'Schwalbe', made a remarkable gesture this Christmas season by donating €200 to single mothers in need. He earned this amount through hard work, collecting about 2,500 deposit bottles to raise the funds. Schwalbe expressed his wish for the donation in a handwritten letter to the Sozialdienst katholischer Frauen (SkF), a local charity dedicated to assisting women in difficult circumstances.

The charity’s representatives, including director Svenja Gruß, were deeply moved by the unexpected generosity from someone with so little. Gruß described the donation as "speechless and grateful," emphasizing that true generosity knows no bounds. Part of the donation was received by a single mother who was facing challenges related to her child's birth certificate and child benefits due to the father's lack of acknowledgment.

In a conversation with SWR, Schwalbe shared that his donation was a gift to God, timed with the birth of Jesus, reflecting on social inequalities by stating, "The ones who have too much and the ones who have too little – there is enough for everyone if it were better distributed." He chose to remain anonymous but hoped his act would inspire hope and support for those less fortunate.
