Investigation Underway into Alleged Attempted Murder via High-Speed Car Crash in North Rhine-Westphalia

A serious criminal investigation is ongoing in North Rhine-Westphalia following a suspected attempted murder involving a deliberate car accident caused by a 20-year-old man, Fynn L., against his ex-girlfriend. The incident occurred on July 5 on the A 59 near Düsseldorf when Fynn, driving at 187 km/h in a 120 km/h zone, intentionally steered the vehicle off the road into a wooded area without braking, according to prosecutors. The victim, a 19-year-old woman who had recently ended their relationship, sustained severe physical injuries including a pubic bone fracture and bone chip from the pelvic bone. She is also undergoing psychological treatment for trauma, experiencing flashbacks and anxiety, as her lawyer filed a claim for 20,000 euros in damages.

Fynn suffered life-threatening injuries, including several broken vertebrae, and during court proceedings expressed remorse, stating, "I am deeply sorry for my actions." However, evidence revealed prior threats made by him during relationship disputes. The woman is expected to give testimony in court without Fynn's presence.

Separately, in Bochum, police continue to investigate a serious hit-and-run case involving a 25-year-old woman who was struck by a fleeing driver and sustained life-threatening injuries. Authorities identified a 20-year-old suspect with a history of hit-and-run offenses and suspected drug influence. His driver's license and vehicle were seized, and he faces investigation but has not been arrested.

These incidents highlight the severe consequences of reckless and intentional driving in the region and underscore law enforcement's efforts to hold perpetrators accountable while ensuring victim protection.
