Lothar Matthäus, the legendary German footballer, has advised former national coach Julian Nagelsmann to look for future coaching roles outside Germany. Writing for Sky, Matthäus expressed doubt that Nagelsmann would swiftly secure a top coaching job in Germany due to the heightened scrutiny and criticism he would face following his recent tenure.

Matthäus noted that Nagelsmann, who left his position with the German Football Association (DFB) after an early World Cup exit despite having a contract until 2028, has reacted somewhat sensitively to criticism and been perceived as sulky, which could hinder his prospects in the competitive German football environment. During his tenure with the national team, Nagelsmann was marked by a combination of disappointing results and football considered unattractive by some observers. Following Nagelsmann's departure, Jürgen Klopp was appointed as his successor.
