Major Fire in Köln Sparks from Illegal Fireworks Storage in Residential House

A severe fire erupted on Tuesday evening in a row house on 'Auf dem Klemberg' in Köln due to the explosion of illegal fireworks stored inside. The Köln fire department received the emergency call around 6:30 PM and discovered the house fully engulfed upon arrival. Over 60 firefighters were deployed to the scene to control the blaze and safeguard neighboring homes.

Due to the large quantity of fireworks present, the situation was highly dangerous, preventing firefighters from entering the building; fire suppression was conducted solely from the outside. Thick smoke enveloped the area, leading authorities to advise residents to keep doors and windows closed. One resident suffered smoke inhalation and was transported to hospital, while neighbors were evacuated and cared for by emergency services.

Police have yet to determine the exact cause of the fire, with investigations scheduled to begin the following day.
