North Rhine-Westphalia Expands 'Fit for Life' Program Across All Schools

On August 20, 2026, North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) announced the statewide expansion of the 'Fit for Life' educational program following a successful pilot in the Münster district. This initiative, supported by NRW's School Minister Dorothee Feller and LifeTeachUs managing director Ludwig Thiede, aims to connect schools with businesses, craftsmen, and public institutions to provide students with practical career and life skills through interactive learning experiences.

Central to the program is the LifeTeachUs app, which currently links 200 schools with over 5,400 registered experts in NRW and more than 20,000 professionals nationwide. LifeTeachers, such as marketing expert Andrea Müller and master carpenter Michael Martini, engage students with sessions on topics like artificial intelligence, democratic participation, financial literacy, and sustainability.

Minister Feller emphasized the importance of equipping students with applicable skills, noting firsthand feedback that young people desire education relevant to real-life challenges. The program is voluntary and encourages schools and community members to join this vibrant networking platform to enhance practical knowledge and empower students' educational and career choices.

This collaborative effort extends beyond schools, involving companies and societal actors dedicated to enriching student education and fostering informed decision-making about future paths in a rapidly changing world.
