Nuremberg Launches Comprehensive Online Mental Health Guide to Support Community

Nuremberg's health department has introduced the 'Wegweiser Psychische Gesundheit,' a new online mental health guide designed to assist individuals facing psychological challenges, as well as their families and mental health professionals. Developed in cooperation with the city's psychiatry department, the platform offers a wide array of resources including counseling, treatment options, self-help strategies, and information tailored for both children and adolescents under 17, and adults over 18.

A key feature of the guide is its extensive crisis support section, which provides a detailed overview of 24/7 emergency services for acute psychological crises, aiming to reduce feelings of helplessness and anxiety during critical moments. The guide also addresses sensitive topics such as suicidality and explains how to seek appropriate help. Nadine Riedel, coordinator for child and adolescent psychiatry, highlighted the guide's significance given that one in three people in Nuremberg statistically experiences a psychological crisis.

The platform will be continuously updated and includes a calendar of mental health events in the city, ensuring ongoing accessibility to up-to-date information and mostly free resources. This initiative seeks to simplify navigation through the complex mental health support system in Nuremberg and provide timely, comprehensive assistance to the community.
