Pforzheim Companies Explore French Defense Sector Through Franco-German Delegation

A delegation from Pforzheim and the surrounding region recently visited Paris to explore opportunities in the French defense sector, with a focus on civil, military, and dual-use technologies. The trip, organized by the cluster HOCHFORM in collaboration with the Franco-German Chamber of Commerce, offered the participants valuable insights into the sector’s market dynamics and collaboration potential.

The program began with a workshop at the Europe Experience center, the visitor facility of the European Parliament, which emphasized intercultural competencies and specifics of the French defense market. The event was followed by a networking evening with high-ranking representatives of the French security industry, allowing Pforzheim companies to engage directly with influential industry figures.

On the second day, the delegation attended Milipol, an international security trade fair under the French Ministry of the Interior. There, guided tours and pre-arranged contacts gave detailed exposure to market opportunities and access requirements across areas including civil infrastructure, security solutions, and military applications.

Visits to prominent defense companies further enriched the trip. At RENK France, the delegation learned about joint Franco-German projects and key success factors underpinning defense sector collaboration, particularly in transmission systems. The visit concluded at Airbus Helicopters in Île-de-France, where attendees gained insights into the company’s structure, production, and regional expertise, while presenting their own firms and discussing potential future cooperation.
