Ulrich Siegmund Commits to Accept Saxony-Anhalt Election Results Amid Electoral Concerns

Ulrich Siegmund, the lead candidate of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in Saxony-Anhalt, has pledged to accept the upcoming state election results, even if the AfD narrowly misses an absolute majority. Speaking at an event organized by the AfD youth wing Generation Deutschland in Magdeburg, Siegmund underscored the importance of accepting democratic outcomes, stating, "As democrats, we always accept democratic results."

Siegmund also raised concerns about past electoral irregularities, citing incidents in Magdeburg and Halle where ballot papers were printed and dispatched twice. While he clarified that most election workers perform their duties properly, he stressed the need to address any misconduct to preserve trust in the democratic process. To ensure transparency, he encouraged voters to attend polling stations at 6 PM on election day to participate in the vote counting.

The event drew around 300 members of Generation Deutschland and included spirited debates on party policy, notably over the Euro, where internal divisions emerged. GD leader Jean-Pascal Hohm opposed a Euro exit, a departure from earlier AfD positions, and advocated for mass deportations, asserting that "Germany must remain the land of Germans." AfD state chairman Martin Reichardt also voiced strong criticisms of government and societal issues, earning applause. Despite approximately 600 counter-protesters, police reported a calm atmosphere during the gathering.

This development spotlights the AfD's determination to engage democratically while confronting electoral transparency and internal party debates ahead of the pivotal Saxony-Anhalt state election.
