Brandenburg an der Havel to Host Summer Festival Promoting Mental Health Awareness

On August 21, 2026, Brandenburg an der Havel will host a summer festival aimed at raising awareness about mental health and reducing stigma associated with mental illnesses. Organized by the Psychosocial Working Group (PSAG), the event is scheduled from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Altstädtischer Markt under the theme "Summer Time - Soul Time. Celebrate Yourself!".

The festival will open with Alexandra Adel, Deputy Mayor for Youth, Social Affairs, Schools, and Sports, highlighting the city’s commitment to mental health. Catrin Krüger, Psychiatry Coordinator of Brandenburg an der Havel, stressed the societal importance of mental well-being and the festival’s goal to foster open conversations about self-care.

Activities will include workshops, expert talks, creative arts and crafts, dance performances, and interactive stations designed to engage visitors of all ages. A notable feature is the Rauschbrillen-Parcours, which educates attendees on the effects of alcohol and drugs. The event also offers direct access to psychosocial support organizations and information about available services.

The festival is supported by the MUT-TOUR initiative, which focuses on raising awareness about depression and encouraging public dialogue on mental health issues. Overall, the event aims to empower the community through education, interaction, and reduction of stigma surrounding mental illness.
