Bundesliga Top Clash: FC Bayern Hosts Borussia Dortmund in Crucial Match Amid Coaching Absence and Injury Doubts

On October 31, 2026, FC Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund face off in one of the Bundesliga's most intense rivalries at the Allianz Arena. Both teams are currently unbeaten this season and share the top positions in the league table, intensifying the stakes for this 115th Klassiker clash.

While Bayern seeks to maintain their dominance, having won nine out of the last ten encounters against Dortmund and the recent Supercup final 2-1, Dortmund has improved defensively under coach Niko Kovac, making this match highly competitive. The Bundesliga's eighth matchday kickoff is scheduled for 18:30 with pre-match coverage starting at 17:30, exclusively broadcast by Sky, as the match is not available on free TV.

FC Bayern faces additional challenges with the absence of head coach Vincent Kompany, who is currently recovering at home after leaving the hospital and undergoing rehabilitation. Sports director Max Eberl is optimistic about Kompany's recovery, stating, "He has left the hospital and can now do his rehab at home. I am very, very sure that he will soon be back at the sidelines with a hundred percent." However, Kompany will not be present for this pivotal match.

Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer’s participation remains uncertain due to an ongoing injury, although Joshua Kimmich is expected to return to Bayern’s starting lineup.

The match is not only a contest between two giants but also a key moment in what is shaping up to be a compelling title race. Borussia Dortmund’s coach Kovac, a former Bayern manager, anticipates a thrilling and significant match for German football. Alongside this Bundesliga highlight, other sporting events include Bundesliga second division clashes and Formula 1 qualifying in Mexico, marking an exciting day for sports fans.

As both clubs vie for supremacy, this Bayern-Dortmund encounter is a defining fixture in the 2026 Bundesliga season.
