EU Cyber Resilience Act Drives Immediate Action and Support for German Businesses

The EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) has imposed critical cybersecurity requirements on companies to secure digital products against cyberattacks throughout their entire lifecycle. Initial compliance obligations under the CRA began in September 2023, with full adherence mandated by the end of 2027.

To assist companies in meeting these new requirements, the Transformationsnetzwerk Nordschwarzwald (TraFoNetz) is organizing an event titled "Der Cyber Resilience Act: Fluch oder Segen für produktentwickelnde Unternehmen?" on September 29, 2026, at the IHK-Bildungszentrum Nagold. Maria Rill, Head of the Cybersecurity and Law Research Department at FZI Forschungszentrum Informatik, will address the upcoming requirements and strategies for practical implementation.

The CRA extends beyond IT departments, impacting product development, management, and quality assurance, thus demanding cross-departmental cooperation. Jochen Protzer, Managing Director of Wirtschaftsförderung Nordschwarzwald, emphasized that complying with the CRA can offer companies a competitive advantage through enhanced security standards.

To further support businesses, TraFoNetz will introduce two free assessment tools: the Digi-Check and CyberSicherheitsCheck. These tools help companies evaluate their digital maturity and cybersecurity status, enabling more informed compliance strategies.

The event encourages dialogue and networking and is free of charge, offering German enterprises a valuable opportunity to prepare effectively for the CRA's full compliance deadline in 2027. This alignment of regulatory enforcement with accessible support mechanisms highlights the EU's commitment to strengthening cybersecurity across the business landscape.
