The Medizinische Hochschule Hannover (MHH) and the Niedersächsische Landesgesundheitsamt (NLGA) have announced a strengthened scientific collaboration aimed at improving public health outcomes across Niedersachsen. An intent declaration was signed by MHH President Prof. Dr. Denise Hilfiker-Kleiner and NLGA President Dr. Fabian Feil, formalizing their commitment to work closely on research and knowledge exchange in infectious diseases, hygiene, environmental medicine, and public health, including crisis and pandemic planning.

This partnership will enhance the transfer of expertise between the university and public health services, fostering practical application of research to address current health system challenges. Notably, the NLGA will join the new Public Health competence center at MHH, further integrating theory with practice. Prof. Dr. Hilfiker-Kleiner emphasized that such collaboration supports MHH’s goal to become an excellence university and improve health research impact. Dr. Feil highlighted the benefits of bolstered knowledge exchange leading to actionable insights that can influence health measures regionally.

MHH is known for patient-centered medicine and is the only medical university applying in Germany’s national research excellence competition, underscoring the significance of this partnership for regional public health advancement.
