Thomas Kessler Elevated to Geschäftsführer Sport at 1. FC Köln with Expanded Role and Contract Until 2028

On January 22, 2026, 1. FC Köln officially promoted Thomas Kessler from Sportdirektor to Geschäftsführer Sport, marking a significant leadership change at the club. Kessler signed a contract valid until 2028, solidifying his position as a central figure in the club's sporting and strategic direction.

Kessler's new responsibilities encompass wide-ranging oversight, including the professional player licensing area, scouting operations, the women's team, the FC academy, and the medical department. This expanded remit reflects the club's trust in his leadership and vision. Kessler, who began his association with 1.
