US Company Permag to Create 120 Jobs with New Facility in Korntal, Germany

US company Permag is investing in a new production facility in Korntal-Münchingen, Baden-Württemberg, set to open in autumn 2026, which will create 120 new jobs. This strategic move aims to leverage the skilled German workforce, particularly tapping into professionals from the automotive industry, which is seeing shifts in availability of qualified workers. Permag’s Europe chief, Carlos Castro, highlighted Baden-Württemberg’s strong regional innovation in sectors like semiconductors, medical technology, and aerospace—fields aligning well with the company’s magnetic solutions products.

Currently, Permag develops its products exclusively in the US, specifically Illinois, but the company plans to shorten supply chains by producing directly in Germany to better serve European customers. Baden-Württemberg was selected over other regions such as Bavaria for its continued attractiveness to international investors despite challenges in the automotive sector.

Gunnar Mey, managing director of Baden-Württemberg International, expressed optimism about the job creation, stating, “120 jobs are better than none,” emphasizing the importance of such foreign investments for the regional economy and innovation. Permag is actively seeking highly qualified engineers and production staff to meet the specialized demands of its products, with Castro noting that current economic conditions make recruiting talented workers somewhat easier.

This move underscores how US companies are recognizing the value of Germany’s skilled labor pool and innovative environment to expand production and improve supply chain efficiency.
